Ambassador of The Kingdom of the Netherlands

Topic: “tour d’horizon” about the relations NL/Canada, impact Brexit,
75 years liberation and the future.

We are honoured to present His Excellency Henk Ary Christiaan van der Zwan. Born in Leeuwarden, Friesland, the Netherlands.

Henk van der Zwan joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 and was posted in Tunis (Tunisia) and in Brussels (Belgium) at the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of the European Union, Director of the Department of Consular Affairs, Asylum and Migration at the Ministry in The Hague, Head of the United Nations Political Affairs Department, Directorate for Personnel and Management and as Head of the Private Office of the Permanent Undersecretary.

He then had the following assignments:

    2002 - 2006               Principal Secretary to Her Majesty Queen Beatrix

    2006 – 2010               Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Estonia 

    2010 - 2013               National Coordinator for International Positions

    2013 - 2016               Inspector General of the Foreign Service

    2016 - present           Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Canada

                         12:15 p.m. luncheon followed by presentation
