PRESENTATION
Three (3) 1944-1945 Liberation Wooden Shoes for the Museum’s collection, non-alcoholic reception with Dutch snacks,private visit to The Bata Shoe Museum.
Historically, Dutch citizens gave many of these miniature wooden shoes, called Liberation Wooden Shoes (‘Bevrijdingsklompjes’) to soldiers of the Canadian and Allied Forces as a way of expressing their gratitude in marking the liberation of Holland. “To this date only 16 of these extremely rare WWII artifacts are known to exist,” says Theo Luykenaar, former Publisher of De Nederlandse COURANT, the Dutch-Canadian newspaper and NLC Director, who will present the final three Liberation Wooden Shoes from his personal collection to the Bata Shoe Museum.

Theo Luykenaar and Trix Spaans will review the history of the 1944/45 Liberation Wooden shoes and how his unique and rare collection was established.

Q&A session.
Non-alcoholic reception and Dutch snacks. Private visit to the Museum.
