A Message from the President
Welcome to the Canadian Netherlands Business and Professional Association (CNBPA).
The CNBPA has enjoyed a long history as one of the most vibrant and active European business chambers in Toronto. In addition to leading-edge business speakers, we provide a strong networking forum for both Dutch expatriates and Canadian business people with Dutch interests.
Our focus for 2012 will be to increase the value that the CNBPA brings to its members and the broader Dutch-Canadian community with which we interact. We will do this by offering more events at more venues throughout the GTA and working hard to increase attendance – and hence the networking opportunities – at these events.
We always welcome new corporate and individual members and invite you to get involved through both our business and social events. We also invite you to join our LinkedIn group, and to follow us on Twitter.
We look forward to meeting you at our next event, and thank all the members and the Toronto Dutch business community for their ongoing support of the CNBPA.
Tom Vandeloo,
President

Welcome to the CNBPA - RECAP: News & Events in 2011
|
The Canadian Netherlands Business and Professional Association marked its 30th anniversary in 2009 and continues to be a passionate presence in the Toronto community. We are looking forward to the next 30 years. Fall has arrived and the CNBPA is preparing for a new season of activities for members and guests.
Looking back on 2011 so far, we’ve had some amazing events:
February: we held our Inaugural Family Ski Day on February 5, 2011 at Blue Mountain. This event was a huge success.
April: we held our annual Economic Outlook in the Royal York's Imperial Room on April 18, 2011. This event was a joint presentation of the CNBPA, the BCBC and EUCOCIT. Lunch with, and keynote presentation by Dr. Nout Wellink, President, Nederlandsche Bank. Nout Wellink brought 14 years of experience as the head of the Dutch central bank and a candid view of the economy. Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney joined our head table and delivered introductory remarks about Dr. Wellink.
May: we organized a Fireside Chat at KPMG’s Bay Street offices on May 18, 2011. A panel of experts from the private debt, angel investing and traditional banking streams shed light on the availability of financing for small businesses in Canada and gave tips on how to maximize success as an entrepreneur looking to finance growth. The panelists were Sal Rabbani from the Business Development Bank of Canada, Arnold Denton from DUCA Financial Services. Elham AyoubZadeh from Maple Leaf Angels and John Vellinga, of Multiculture Marketing Inc.
July: we held out Summer Orange Feest on July 21, 2011 at the residence and garden of the Consul General, His Excellency Hans Horbach. By all accounts this was a great event. Some 50 people attended on the hottest day of the year and we raised over $1,000 for the Hammer Band.
We thank all those that helped organize and staff these events and to all the members and guests that attended!
October: CNBPA held its Fall Networking event, Fall Meetup with keynote speaker
Angus Murray. Murray, the 50th Canadian to summit Mt. Everest and an accomplished educator and expedition guide, shared inspitational personal stories of challenge and triumph and invite guests to consider how to live out loud in their professional and personal life. Guests also enjoyed an opportunity to network with business professionals from the Toronto business community
November 3:
- Business Opportunities in the European Union 2011-09-09 - a collaborative effort with the International Trade Branch of the Ontario Government.
November 24 - Annual General Meeting and Sinterklaas Social with special guest Mr. Hans Horbach, Consul General. Members and guests at the AGM met and confirmed the board for 2012, heard reports from the board on our financials, membership, and events, and learned about the exciting events and programs we have planned for the upcoming year.
